Well I had a great weekend working on the car. First there was fine weather 27 degrees, The other big help was that Molly went and stayed over at Nana's and had a birthday to go on Sunday. So over all I got about 7hr to work on the Ratty
First thing Saturday was to continue with the painting, the rear axle and the drum brakes needed to be painted. This required taking off the wheels and then lots of sanding. I wasn't too fussy as its was only to cover the existing paint.
Wheels removed ready for sanding
Since it so fine I gave the battery box, Brake booster mount and fuel tank another couple of coats of paint.
My old man seat and the bucket of water for the wet&Dry paper
Ready for the rattle can paint :)
First coat of paint
All looking good and no purple to be seen.
Tank on to see how its looking.
The next major job was to start the re-plumbing, brakes and fuel. I had to get some hard line, some soft line and a fuel tap. The fuel tap was to allow me to shut off the fuel supply, as a theft deterrent.
Its a nice alloy job was expensive. But small and perfect for the job.
I had to make my own brackets to hold the fuel line.
Here is the finished item with the rubber inner and all the holes drilled ready for mounting.
First front mount installed.
The second one installed. I am a believer in showing and seeing the mechanical parts of the car. So I tried to make the routing of the fuel and brake lines a feature.
The next 4 brakects i had to make, All slightly different for the different locaitons that were to go.
Routing of the hard line up to where the tank sits.
Mount holding the hard line between the battery box and the chassis
View of the fuel and brake lines and how they run. down the chassis rail.
The next task was to get the fuel tap and filter all hooked up to the original spout that comes out of the tank. This is what it looks like all made up.
Electric fuel pump mounted ,and the tank sanded back for a coat of paint once i sorted out the plumbing.
Now this is where I ran into a slight issue and had to come up with a way to connect the fuel pump to the filter. They were very close and the bend to tight for a right angle or the use of just some soft line.
So my ingenious play was to create a spiral. as shown below. It was a bugger to bend, but work a treat.
Last thing Sunday evening was to give the underneath of the fuel tank a coat of paint.
A great weekend and good feeling of making progress.

Painting continued
Well its almost looking like a tbucket instead of just a bunch of bits. Well if you squint.. you can almost image it.
A copy more coats of the flat black rust proof paint for the chassis and the newly fabricated cross members.
Then giving the roll bar a couple of coats before it gets bolted back on.
Roll bar bolted back in place with new high tensile bolts, and spring washers.
Now it came time to start on the petrol tank. now since i added the last cross member it moved the tank out of alignment for the mounting holes. So I mark and re-drilled. I also increased the size to allow 8mm bolts instead of 6mm.
Next it was on to prepping the tank for painting. This involved wet standing with 600 sandpaper then 1200.
All prepped ready to be wiped clean and rattle canned :)
First coat
While I was at it I have the battery box its first rush prevention coat and painted the brake booster bracket with the heavy duty anti-rust chemical.
Tanks first coat dry. I will now have to start work on the stencil art work that will be used on the tank, body, chassis.

Muscle Car Madness
On Saturday I went out to Muscle Car Madness. Once I finally got to the right place (Rolleston is not Rangoria) There were alot of really great cars. Here is a shot from the grandstand looking down on the showgrounds where most of the cars were on display.

New Year Resolution
I'm now getting close to end of the thirty's and its been along time since I have done any real exercise, I felt it was time to start taking better care of myself. So after some though I have dusted off the old mountain bike and taken it out of its 14 year retirement. I gave it a quick service, oil and lube, New tubes, handle bar grips, lights, brake pads, I also got new gloves and helmet.
I did a couple of laps around the block to make sure everything was ok, Nearly killed myself, a push bike and a motorbike are quite different. I forgot how fast a mountain bike reacts compared to a heavy old motorbike. But its a start. I will now just need to build up to been able to bike to work as after my wee trip I was knacker. Arrrhh the joys of been fat and old and having to get back into shape.

Chassis gets its first matt black coat of paint.
So after a wet frustrating weekend I got a couple of hours in on Monday evening to start the spraying of the chassis. Its matt black and I have just purchased an air brush to do the graphics that I have planned. More on that later
I also am now able to take videos, so will be adding little videos as I go now. Todays oneis just a quick walk around of the freshly painted chassis.

Apple TV and true 1080p, Yes you can do it. :)
Well this is going to be my next little upgrade to the ATV,
http://www.blogythefox.co.uk/2010/01/09/apple-tv-broadcom-hd-card-hardware-and-software-installation/
So I will be removing the wifi card and replacing it with the Broadcom Cyrstal HD card, Through XBMC I will beable to play full 1080p HD video.
And since I already have ATV Flash, there no need for all the SSH and terminal hacking.
http://forum.atvflash.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2469
So I jumped onto eBay Australia, as I could not find a stockest in NZ, found what I was looking for and its now on its way over to me.
Should be a good little hack project.

Getting ready for paint
Finally an update, I am now prepping the chassis for paint, well a very rough paint. Covered the so it was protected from over spray and water. I started to block back the current paint job.
Good old wet & dry sanding
I removed the front shocks as they were in the way.

Rear cross member triangulation
The final major chassis bit is done. This wasn't needed, but wanted to add the strength anyway since I was at it. I added triangulation braces to the newly added cross member, this now forms a ridge chassis section where the shock towers mount to, this will greatly reduce the flex in the rear of the chassis.
Next steps will be to clean everything up and paint, well rust proof... this anit no show pony.... its not call a rattyT for nothing :)
